Natural Monuments
Passports of 32 out of 232 natural monuments registered in the Republic of Armenia have been approved.
By Order N 218-Ն of 5 August 2014 of the Minister of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia, the passports of nine natural monuments located in Lori Province were approved. These include the geological monuments “Striped Dyke of Basaltic Rocks (Diabases),” “Getnandzav Cave Tunnel,” “Travertines in Dolerite Basalts,” and “Dzoraget Volcanic Eruption”; the hydrographic monument “Dsegh Seas” and “Shamlugh Pond”; the biological monument “Koshakar Rhododendron”; and the natural-historical monument “Odzi Port.”
In addition, by Order N 293-N of 9 November 2014, the passport of the hydrographic natural monument “Trchkan Waterfall” was approved.
By Order N 219-Ն of 5 August 2014, the passports of four natural monuments in Vayots Dzor Province were approved: the geological monument “Bakhti Kamar” Natural Stone Tunnel; the natural-historical monument “Berdi Glukh” Castle Cape; the hydrographic monument “Jermuk” (“Tsolk”) Waterfall; and the geological monument “Vardan Mamikonyan” Stone Sculpture.
By Order N 276-Ն of 29 September 2015, the passport of the geological natural monument “Devil’s Bridge” (natural bridge) located in Syunik Province was approved.
By Order N 220-Ն of 5 August 2014, the passports of 15 natural monuments in Tavush Province were approved. These include the biological monuments “Zorakan Plane,” “Vardan Mamikonyan Oak,” “Sar Village Plane,” “Getahovit Mossy Rock,” “Zikatar Pear Grove,” “Voskepar Yew,” and “Djonjolkut,” as well as geological monuments such as “Kovasar Metamorphic Shales,” “Kalakar Mountain,” “Chinchin Angular Unconformity,” “Chinchin Collapsed Terraced Cliffs,” “Plagiogranite-Porphyry Dike,” “Columnar Formations of Quartz Plagioporphyries,” “Paytasar Cave Complex,” and “Odzakar Mountain.”
By Order N 274 -Ն of 18 August 2017, the passports of two geological natural monuments in Kotayk Province were approved: “Basalt Organ Columnar Basalts” and “Anonymous Cave in Columnar Basalts.”
By Order N 68 –Ն of 18 March 2018, the passport of the hydrographic natural monument “Shaki Waterfall” in Syunik Province was approved.
Furthermore, by Government Decision N 1718-Ն of 21 October 2021, the geological natural monument “Tar (Red Katar) Volcano” in Gegharkunik Province was approved.
