The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) regulates international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora, including live animals and plants and their parts and derivatives, such as fur, wood, medicines and souvenirs. Species are classified into three appendices.
The mission of the Convention is to control and regulate international trade in wild fauna and flora species in order to prevent harm to nature and biodiversity.
