Wildlife Conservation Reforms Enter Practical Phase
June 09, 2026
The process of developing legislative reforms aimed at the conservation of wild fauna and flora has entered a practical phase.
The second regular meeting of the interagency working group was held at the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body under the chairmanship of Hovhannes Martirosyan, Head of the Inspection Body. The discussion focused on draft legal acts developed to regulate the circulation of wild animals and plants, as well as the conditions for their keeping.
The working group reviewed and analysed the legal framework governing the sector and assessed its compliance with the requirements of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and international standards.
As a result, recommendations were developed to improve permit issuance and control procedures, as well as to clarify the procedures for import, export, re-export, disposal and possession of wild species.
