April 15, 2026
As part of a working visit to the Kingdom of Norway, the Norwegian Environment Agency organized a tour of the Nordre Øyeren Wetland Visitor Center.
As part of the visit, Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan participated in a field project in the Nordre Øyeren Nature Reserve and Ramsar Site, which provided an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into Norwegian best practices in wetland conservation and ecosystem management.
The programme included preparatory discussions, followed by a cruise in the reserve.
During the visit, the Minister observed practical approaches to wetland management, particularly integrated conservation methods, public awareness strategies, and the active involvement of local communities. Operational management models, fieldwork practices, and monitoring systems were also presented.
The visit provided an important opportunity to deepen professional knowledge and gain a more comprehensive understanding of how Norway combines environmental priorities with the principles of sustainable use, ensuring effective wetland management and the preservation of biodiversity.
