A regular meeting of the COP17 Organizing Committee was held, during which organizational and logistical issues related to the conference were discussed.
The meeting was chaired by Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, and Chair of the COP17 Organizing Committee. Representatives of state bodies that are members of the committee established by the Prime Minister’s decision to organize and hold the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the progress of preparatory work for COP17 was reviewed, upcoming steps were clarified, and the distribution of responsibilities among relevant departments and structures was discussed.
A number of technical issues within the scope of each department’s authority were addressed, including preliminary organizational arrangements related to the conference venue and technical support, as well as mechanisms for effective information and workflow management.
Each responsible representative presented the work carried out since the previous meeting and outlined upcoming tasks.
“The effective organization of COP17 requires not only political will, but also thorough organizational work, strict adherence to deadlines, and close cooperation among all involved structures. At this stage, our priority is the development of a clear action plan and the proper allocation of responsibilities,” the Minister noted.
As a result of the discussions, specific steps were outlined and agreements were reached aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of the COP17 organization process.
