Proposal to Enshrine the Rights of Eco-Patrol Officers in Law
April 15, 2026
On 14 April, the National Assembly discussed a number of draft laws, including, in the second reading, the draft law “On Making Amendment and Addenda to the Law on Eco-Patrol Service”.
The draft law proposes to enshrine in legislation the right of Eco-Patrol Service employees to participate in the continuous monitoring of biodiversity in state forests, specially protected nature areas and forest lands.
Under the current law, the primary mandate of the Eco-Patrol Service is to ensure conservation in state forests and specially protected nature areas. In the course of their duties, a significant amount of information on biodiversity becomes available; however, the participation of eco-patrol officers in biodiversity monitoring is not formally established in the legislation.
The proposed amendments aim to address this gap by introducing clear regulatory provisions.
