Prime Minister Reviews COP17 Preparations

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Meridian Expo Center to review the preparatory work for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Armenia in October this year.
Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, presented the ongoing construction and organizational work, the infrastructure being developed, and the technical solutions that will ensure the successful hosting of the conference. At this stage, work is continuing on the reconstruction of existing facilities, the construction of new buildings, infrastructure development, and the provision of necessary services.
The parties also discussed preparations related to security, communications, power supply, transport, and logistics, all of which are essential for the successful organization of this major international event.
The Prime Minister was also briefed on the main priorities of the conference agenda, including the implementation of global biodiversity conservation targets, international financing mechanisms, and the strengthening of environmental cooperation.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring the effective organization and implementation of COP17 and provided relevant instructions. He noted that COP17 presents a unique opportunity for Armenia to showcase the country's potential to the international community and to contribute to advancing the global agenda on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
