Official Visit of the COP17 Presidency to Canada Concludes

The official visit of the COP17 Presidency to Canada has concluded. The visit provided an important opportunity for Armenia, as the country presiding over COP17, to further deepen cooperation with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and international partners, as well as to coordinate the organizational and substantive preparations for the upcoming conference.
During the discussions, the parties addressed issues related to the organization and logistical arrangements for COP17, preparations for the high-level segment and the Leaders’ Summit, as well as a number of key topics related to biodiversity conservation that will form the core of the conference agenda.
Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, thanked Astrid Schomaker, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity, and the Secretariat colleagues for the productive discussions and constructive cooperation.
These meetings are expected to serve as an important step in Armenia’s coordinated and effective preparation for COP17, as well as in further strengthening cooperation with international partners.
