Next Lesson of the COP17 Media School Held

The next lesson of the COP17 Media School, dedicated to biodiversity and agrifood systems, was held at the United Nations Office in Armenia under the theme “Thematic Directions of UN Agencies.” Within the framework of the module, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) presented the topic “The Role of Agrifood Systems in the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity.”
The third module of the COP17 Media School aimed to strengthen the capacity of Armenian media to provide accurate, analytical and impactful coverage of biodiversity and climate issues, as well as to foster effective engagement in COP17 processes.
During the training, international and local experts addressed:
•    the interlinkages between biodiversity and agrifood systems; 
•    the processes of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD); 
•    the COP17 agenda and ongoing negotiations; 
•    Armenia’s National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAP); 
•    communication tools and resources for journalists. 
Kaveh Zahedi, Assistant Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Director of OCB, also delivered a briefing for journalists.
