Minister Received Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia

Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, received Vassilis Maragos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union, particularly in the fields of environment and climate, which constitute key components of the partnership. They discussed the progress of joint programmes and upcoming priorities.
The parties highlighted EU-supported initiatives aimed at climate change mitigation and adaptation, the development of a circular economy, the improvement of water resources management, and the protection of Lake Sevan.
The Minister presented the legislative and institutional reforms being implemented in the environmental sector, emphasizing the process of approximation to EU standards.
They also discussed the preparatory work for the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) to be held in Armenia, underlining the importance of close and coordinated cooperation with the European Union.
The parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue effective cooperation aimed at achieving shared goals in environmental protection and sustainable development.
