Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan Received Bolat Imanbayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan Bolat Imanbayev

Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, received Bolat Imanbayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the Minister emphasized the importance of the friendly relations established between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the continuous development of cooperation based on mutual trust. He reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to expand the bilateral agenda and further deepen sectoral partnership.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the preparatory process for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17), planned to be held in Yerevan. In this context, they underscored the importance of Kazakhstan’s high-level participation and the need for sustained and coordinated cooperation.
Particular attention was devoted to issues related to water sector management. The discussion addressed approaches aimed at the sustainable management of water resources, as well as enhanced synergy within the framework of the relevant UN water conventions, taking into account current priorities of the global environmental agenda.
The Ambassador presented Kazakhstan’s initiative to establish an International Water Organization, outlining its objectives and expected functions. The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation within this framework, including the exchange of expertise, development of joint programmes, and capacity-building initiatives.
The Minister, in his turn, presented Armenia’s approaches in the field of water resources management, as well as ongoing efforts to preserve the ecosystem and biodiversity of Lake Sevan, emphasizing their significance from both environmental and socio-economic sustainable development perspectives. The sides also touched upon upcoming international conferences and platforms that will provide opportunities to continue dialogue and reaffirm shared cooperation priorities.
