April 23, 2026

Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan has assessed the participation of the Republic of Armenia in the G7 Environment Ministers’ Meeting as an event of particular importance and symbolic significance for the country.
Armenia’s presence on this platform reflects the growing trust placed in the country and the strengthening of its role in the international environmental agenda. The G7 brings together leading countries that shape global environmental policy, and Armenia’s involvement provides an opportunity to make its voice heard at the global level by presenting national approaches and priorities.
This participation also carries historical significance, given that Armenia is the upcoming host of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17). This responsibility necessitates increased engagement and proactive cooperation with international partners, as well as the development of a consolidated agenda aimed at biodiversity conservation and addressing climate challenges.
As the host country of COP17, participation in such high-level platforms is essential for deepening dialogue, establishing new partnerships, and promoting joint initiatives.
The contacts established and agreements reached within the framework of the G7 are expected to make a significant contribution to the effective organization of the conference and to enhancing the impact of its outcomes.
Armenia stands ready to contribute to advancing the global environmental agenda, acting as a reliable partner and a responsible host country.
