April 27, 2026

Within the framework of the G7 Environment Ministers’ Meeting, Hambardzum Matevosyan visited the Château de Fontainebleau and its surrounding natural areas.
The Château de Fontainebleau is one of the most significant historical and cultural centres in France and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its outstanding universal value.
During the visit, the Minister also familiarized himself with the Forest of Fontainebleau (Fontainebleau et du Gâtinais), a major natural area covering more than 20,000 hectares and characterized by rich biodiversity. The forest is considered one of the earliest examples of protected natural areas.
Fontainebleau represents a unique setting where cultural heritage and nature are harmoniously integrated.
The visit provided an opportunity to observe such integrated management approaches on site and to draw valuable insights for the joint conservation of cultural and natural heritage.
