Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan Receives Basile van Havre

Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, received Basile van Havre, an international expert on biodiversity and multilateral negotiations.
During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the preparations for COP17, which will be held in Yerevan in October, as well as the key priorities and current challenges of the negotiations leading up to the conference.
They exchanged views on Armenia’s role as the COP17 Presidency, its strategic priorities, approaches to ensuring an effective negotiation process, and the steps needed to foster constructive dialogue, mutual trust, and consensus among Parties during the conference.
The discussion also highlighted the role of the COP17 Presidency not only in ensuring the successful organization of the conference, but also in advancing the global biodiversity agenda, accelerating the implementation of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and strengthening international cooperation.
Armenia continues its preparations for COP17 with the goal of delivering a high-level conference, an inclusive and transparent negotiation process, and a results-oriented Presidency that supports global efforts for biodiversity conservation.
