Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan participated in the "World Environment Youth Festival", organized within the framework of Seaside Startup Summit Armenia, where he delivered an opening address and gave a presentation on COP17 Armenia.
The Minister presented the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17), which Armenia will host, highlighting its significance for both Armenia and the global environmental agenda.
Hambardzum Matevosyan spoke about the responsibility Armenia has assumed by leading the next important stage of the global biodiversity agenda. He also presented the priorities of the Armenian COP17 Presidency, aimed at accelerating the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, mobilizing financial resources, strengthening inclusive cooperation, and delivering practical results.
The Minister presented the conference agenda and structure, emphasizing that the Blue Zone, to be located at the Meridian Expo Center, will host the official negotiations, high-level meetings, and the work of delegations, while the Green Zone, to operate at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, will serve as an open platform for the public, young people, the scientific community, the business sector, civil society, and international partners. Through exhibitions, discussions, and educational, cultural, and innovation-focused events organized during the conference, it will help make the environmental agenda more accessible and inclusive.
The Minister particularly emphasized the role of young people, expressing confidence that their ideas, knowledge, and initiative will contribute to the development of new solutions for nature conservation and sustainable development.
Hambardzum Matevosyan thanked the organizers of Seaside Startup Summit Armenia for giving a special place to the environmental agenda this year and for creating a platform for such important discussions among young people.
The Minister noted that such initiatives on the path to COP17 contribute not only to raising awareness but also to fostering a generation ready to take responsibility for the future of our planet.
