During the preliminary discussions of the annual report on the implementation of the 2025 State Budget at a joint session of the Standing Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection, and on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment also addressed the current state of the country’s water resources and reservoir storage levels.
According to the Minister, the filling levels of the Republic’s five major reservoirs have reached nearly 100% this year compared to the same period last year.
The Akhuryan Reservoir, Azat Reservoir, Marmarik Reservoir and Aparan Reservoir are currently at 100 percent capacity, while the level of Lake Arpi has reached 91%.
The Minister also noted that the level of Lake Sevan is currently 6 centimeters lower than at the same time last year. However, he emphasized that the lake level has been rising at a rapid pace.
“Over the past ten years, since 2017, we have not observed such a rapid increase in the level of Lake Sevan. Based on the available data, we can state that by the end of this month the lake level will reach last year’s level,” the Minister noted.
