EW4All National Roadmap Validation Workshop Was Held in Yerevan

March 23, 2026

On 17 March 2026, Early Warnings for All (EW4All) National Roadmap Validation Workshop was held in Yerevan, following the National Self-Assessment Workshop conducted in November 2025. The event marked a key step in advancing Armenia’s national multi-hazard early warning system, aimed at ensuring that communities receive timely warnings and can take action before disasters occur.
The EW4All initiative, launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2022, seeks to ensure that every person has access to early warning systems by 2027. The initiative is of particular significance for Armenia, given the country’s vulnerability to natural hazards.
The initiative is being implemented with the support of UN agencies, including UNDRR, WMO, ITU, IFRC, and UNDP, within the framework of inter-agency cooperation. The roadmap is structured around four core pillars of effective early warning systems: disaster risk knowledge; detection and forecasting; dissemination and communication; and preparedness to respond.
Representatives of government institutions, international organizations, and partner agencies participated in the workshop. Opening remarks were delivered by Françoise Jacob, UN Resident Coordinator and Celeste Saulo, WMO Secretary-General (via video message), alongside contributions from national and international partners.
Facilitated group discussions were organized to discuss, refine and validate the priority actions outlined in the roadmap for the period 2026–2030 in all mentioned directions.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants reaffirmed their joint commitment to advancing the initiative and translating early warnings into timely early actions that save lives, protect livelihoods and strengthen Armenia’s resilience to climate-related and natural hazards.
The event was organized within the framework of a UNDP project funded by the Government of Japan.
