COP17 Organizing Committee Meeting Held

The regular meeting of the Organizing Committee established for the organization and hosting of COP17 was held under the chairmanship of Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan, during which a number of key issues related to the conference preparations were discussed.
The meeting focused on the progress of construction and infrastructure works, the readiness of the main and adjacent conference venues, as well as the coordination of organizational processes and the effective implementation of upcoming stages.
As representatives of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and UN officials responsible for security matters are currently in Armenia on a working visit, issues related to protocol and security arrangements were also discussed. The participants reviewed the work already carried out in this area and the steps planned in the near future to ensure a high level of organization in line with international standards.
Particular attention was paid to arrangements for receiving international delegations and guests, coordination of movement, transport and logistics. The participants also discussed the process of sending invitations to high-level delegates, organizational matters related to hosting delegations, and the substantive and protocol aspects of the Leaders’ Summit.
During the meeting, the importance of close and coordinated cooperation among various departments, responsible bodies and partner organizations was emphasized to ensure the effective and high-level organization of the COP17.
It was noted that Armenia continues its consistent efforts to organize COP17 in accordance with the best international standards and to host the conference with a high sense of responsibility.
