Within the framework of the “Waste Management Policy in Armenia” (WPA) Programme, a delegation from the Republic of Armenia, including Ara Mkrtchyan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA; Vahe Ghalumyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the RA National Assembly; Babken Tunyan, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the RA National Assembly; and representatives of the Ministry of Environment of the RA and international organizations, paid a working visit to the Kingdom of Sweden.
The aim of the visit was to provide representatives of Armenian state institutions and sectoral organizations with an opportunity to study Sweden’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) systems, modern and effective waste management models, and the practical application of circular economy principles.
As part of the visit, Ara Mkrtchyan held meetings with the leadership of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden and representatives of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
