Workshop on Water Resources Held in Armenia

Within the framework of the “EU4Green Recovery East” programme, and under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, a workshop on integrated water resources management was held in Armenia.
The main objective of the workshop was to discuss the need and expediency of developing a new edition of the Water Code of Armenia, taking into account recent developments in the water sector, the signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the EU, and the ongoing development of a water sector strategy. The participants also discussed the draft Second Water Sector Adaptation Plan (2027–2031) and the introduction of water-related educational programmes in Armenian universities.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Susana Martins, Head of the International Assistance/Cooperation Unit of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Lilit Abrahamyan, Head of the Water Policy Department of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, Nvard Vardanyan, Deputy Chairperson of the MTAI Water Committee of the RA, and Alexander Belokurov, representative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
The workshop brought together policymakers and policy implementers, other government bodies, research and educational institutions, as well as representatives of international financial institutions, organizations and programmes operating in the water sector.
The participants agreed on further steps to promote and facilitate integrated water resources management in Armenia.
