The Minister Received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Armenia

Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan received Mansour Abdullah Salem Saad Al Sulaitin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Armenia.
The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him a productive and successful diplomatic mission in Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation, noting the significant potential for cooperation between Armenia and Qatar. They also exchanged views on Qatar’s policies and experience in advancing sustainable development.
The Ambassador was presented with the ongoing preparatory work for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Yerevan in 2026, as well as the priorities of Armenia’s forthcoming presidency. In this context, the importance of the conference in advancing the global biodiversity agenda was emphasized.
The Minister also touched upon the format and procedures for the participation of states. It was noted that Qatar will take part in the conference with a representative delegation.
The parties further discussed opportunities for cooperation within international platforms and reaffirmed their readiness to deepen collaboration in the fields of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
