Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between the Ministry of Environment of the RA and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute

Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, and Laura Milne, Country Director of the Yerevan Office of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting the application of international human rights standards in the field of environmental protection.
Jason Naum, Regional Director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, also arrived in Armenia within the framework of the signing of the Memorandum.
The Memorandum seeks to support the effective implementation of human rights legislation and international environmental conventions, including the Aarhus Convention and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Within the framework of the cooperation, the Institute will provide expert assistance to the Ministry in the areas of biodiversity conservation, management of protected areas, climate change policy, as well as public participation and access to environmental justice.
The parties will also cooperate in preparations for hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity in 2026.
