Meeting Was Held with International Expert Team

A working meeting with an international expert team was held at the Ministry of Environment of the RA.
Gor Mikaelyan, Head of the Waste and Atmospheric Emissions Management Department and Jerzy Sarnacki, Head of the EU4Green Recovery East International Expert Team discussed the “Industrial Waste Mapping” process being implemented in Armenia, as well as ongoing efforts related to the introduction of circular economy principles.
During the meeting, Gor Mikaelyan presented the Ministry’s strategic approaches to waste management, emphasizing that the sector is viewed not only from an environmental perspective, but also as an important component of economic development. According to him, effective waste management can serve as a foundation for the development of a circular economy, in which data-driven and transparent management systems play a key role.
Referring to international experience in the introduction of circular economy principles, Jerzy Sarnacki noted that effective sectoral development requires close cooperation among various institutions and stakeholders. In his view, achieving systemic results requires coordinated efforts by state bodies, the private sector and civil society.
The parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue cooperation in support of green and sustainable economic development in Armenia.
The EU4Green Recovery East programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to support green recovery and the development of a circular economy in the Eastern Partnership countries.
