Launch of Digital Greenhouse Gas Emissions Database

May 15, 2026

The Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), within the framework of the “EU4ClimateResilience” regional programme, organized a workshop on 14 May 2026 dedicated to the launch of a digital Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system for greenhouse gas emissions.
During the workshop, the Digital Greenhouse Gas Emissions Database was officially launched, where emission data will be collected and recorded by sector, source and time period. The establishment of the database aims to ensure more efficient, coordinated and digital implementation of greenhouse gas inventory and emissions cadaster processes.
Representatives of state agencies, international organizations and development partners participated in the event.
The workshop was preceded by a two-day training session held from 11 to 12 May, during which staff from relevant departments were introduced to the technical capabilities of the system and practiced data upload procedures.
On 13 May, a one-day expert workshop was also held with the participation of representatives of the Energy Community Secretariat, focusing on the importance of establishing the MRV system. Discussions covered evidence-based climate policy development, implementation of obligations under the Paris Agreement and Armenia’s international commitments, as well as opportunities for expanding access to climate finance through an established MRV system.
The “EU4ClimateResilience” regional programme is funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
