High-Level Discussions on COP17 Presidency Priorities in Montreal

By decision of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Armenian delegation, led by Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA and COP17 President, will participate in meetings organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Montreal, Canada, from 9 to 11 March. The meetings are dedicated to shaping the priorities of the COP17 presidency and advancing preparatory work for the conference.
The Armenian delegation includes Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA; Robert Abisoghomonyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RA; Mher Margaryan, COP17 Special Negotiator, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Environment of the RA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RA.
During the three-day meetings, participants will discuss key aspects of the organization and preparation of COP17 in Armenia. In particular, a working meeting is planned to address logistical and organizational matters related to the summit, including event management, technical support for sessions, logistical arrangements, and communication and information dissemination.
These discussions represent an important stage in the process of effective preparation for COP17 and provide an opportunity to coordinate Armenia’s approaches with international partners to ensure the high-level organization of the summit.
The meetings will also serve as an important platform for gaining additional knowledge and experience, strengthening cooperation with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and representatives of partner countries, and ensuring more effective participation in the official sessions of the summit.
