During his working visit to Montreal, Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan participated in the “CBD COP17 Endgame” high-level workshop, organised by the Centre for Multilateral Negotiations for Armenia’s COP17 Presidency.
Discussions were held with experienced experts involved in international multilateral negotiation processes and previous COP presidencies on the effective management of the final stage of the COP17 negotiation process, strengthening trust among the Parties, aligning negotiating positions, and reaching compromises.
Attention was also given to high-level political engagement, effective communication, and the participation of civil society, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, the scientific community, and the private sector. These working discussions are important for the COP17 Presidency in terms of effectively steering the conference’s negotiation process, scheduled to take place in Yerevan in October, and preparing for potential complex scenarios.
