On 27 July 2026, an official side event entitled "Ecological Corridors and OECMs for Implementing GBF Target 3 (30x30) in the Caucasus" will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, within the framework of the 28th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-28) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), with the support of the Presidency of the Republic of Armenia to COP17.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Environment of the RA (COP17 Presidency) in cooperation with WWF-Armenia. It will serve as an important international platform in the lead-up to COP17, bringing together representatives of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Parties, international organizations, the scientific community, and civil society to discuss the role of ecological connectivity, ecological corridors, and Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
