Control over the Registration and Keeping of Wild Animals and Plants Is Being Strengthened

Today, at the initiative of the Head of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, a working discussion was held on the regulation of processes related to the export, import and keeping of wild animals and plants.
Representatives of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, the Inspection Body, and the Inspection Bodies’ Coordination Bureau of the Office of the Prime Minister of the RA participated in the discussion.
The focus was placed on the regulatory mechanisms governing the export and import of wild animals and plants under CITES permits, amendments to standards for keeping animals in captivity, and the preparation of a package of legislative reforms.
At the end of the meeting, a decision was made to establish a working group and set clear deadlines for submitting the draft legislative package to the Government for approval.
