Ara Mkrtchyan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, met with Eva Sundquist, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden, 
Representatives of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and the Ministry of Environment also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, several areas of environmental cooperation between Armenia and Sweden were discussed, including waste management and the implementation of an extended producer responsibility system, efficient water resource management, wastewater treatment, and forest restoration.
Ara Mkrtchyan emphasised the importance of studying and adapting the experience of Sweden and the Scandinavian countries, particularly regarding the establishment of sustainable and efficient waste management systems. Reference was also made to the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. Armenia’s priorities as the presiding and host country of COP17, as well as the work being carried out within the framework of the conference, were presented.
The parties reaffirmed their readiness to elevate environmental cooperation to a more coordinated and practical level, with the aim of aligning bilateral cooperation with the opportunities emerging within the framework of COP17.
